Floor Tile
Last modified: November 1, 2010Just like everything else you can add or modify in your home, flooring comes in a variety of choices. There are some which you can use to create a fancy look to the room, while others provide the utmost function and efficiency. One of these is Floor Tiles, though these are most commonly used for kitchens or baths; these can also be used in other areas of the home to create a more elegant look.
Floor Tiles come in different variations; of course, the top of the line would be marble floor tiles; however, these do not come cheap so there is also another alternative. You can opt to use ceramic or vinyl Floor Tile which is more affordable and can definitely create a more dazzling look in your home. Ceramic tiles are ideal for kitchens, as these are rather easy to clean and can withstand wear and tear much like that in your bathroom. On the other hand, vinyl Floor Tiles can also withstand wear and tear and it comes in different designs, colors and sizes. These are also rather easy to clean and maintain.
There are two ways you can have your Floor Tiles laid or installed; the most common is the Jack on Jack pattern which is the regular one on top of the other in perfect alignment. This is a classic look and is rather easy to do. The other is the running bond pattern which is a bit more complex to do, though the outcome is similar to that of a brick wall where the seams of two tiles meet at the middle of the tile above and below it. And the great part about laying tiles is that you can even have a particular design you would like to have in your flooring, by using different patterns or tile designs, you can create a floor with your very own personal touch.
